Bayern Munich vs Lazio: Live stream, game time thread, how to watch

Bayern Munich vs Lazio Live stream game time thread how to watch
Lazio got cooked.

Initial reactions and observations

  • So this is what Bayern Munich are actually capable of with their backs against the wall. The team needed a superlative performance to beat Lazio and boy did they bring it. The players showed excellent fight and composure to not just overturn the 1-0 deficit, but actually turn it into a comfortable game by the end.
  • Never doubt Thomas Müller. Ahead of the game, there were rumors that he would be benched. It’s a good thing that Tuchel avoided his first instinct and decided to stick with the Raumdeuter, because Müller is simply golden in the Champions League. Kane’s first goal will be recorded as an assist by Guerreiro, but it was created by Müller’s effort. The 2-0 was a critical touch on a De Ligt screamer which killed the tie right before HT. A vintage big game performance from him.
  • Leon Goretzka played a fascinating new role as a pseudo-center back in an alternating back three setup. Instead of dropping between the main defenders as midfielders sometimes do, he played to the left of Eric Dier and acted as an extra stopper on that side while also serving as an outlet for possession. It was a great use of the player’s abilities and the type of coaching innovation we’ve been waiting to see from Thomas Tuchel all season.
  • Joshua Kimmich had a pretty good performance at right-back — he seems to be settling back into the role. With Pavlović coming into his own at defensive midfield, Kimmich might be the right man to stay at RB for the rest of the season, depending on how injuries affect the squad.
  • This was a great performance, but it only gets harder from here. Will this setup be good enough against the likes of Manchester City or Real Madrid? That’s the question the team should ask themselves. For now, the fans breathe a sigh of relief — Bayern Munich will play in the quarter-finals this year.

Full time: Bayern Munich 3-0 Lazio.

66’ — GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Harry Kane makes it 3-0 from a rebound via a show from Leroy Sané!

45’ — The second half is underway!

Halftime: Bayern Munich 2-0 Lazio.

45’ + 1’ — GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Thomas Müller makes it 2-0 via a screamer from De Ligt that looked like it was going in!

39’ — GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Harry Kane makes it 1-0! 1-1 on aggregate now!

Kickoff: We’re underway!

One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! Looks like Thomas Tuchel wasn’t willing to trust Mathys Tel and decided to go with experience for this lineup, with Bayern Munich starting in a standard 4-2-3-1 with Harry Kane up top. Leroy Sané returns to the lineup while Alphonso Davies and Kim Min-jae start on the bench in favor of Raphaël Guerreiro and Eric Dier.

Having lost the first leg, Bayern Munich have it all to do now if they want to stay in the Champions League. Despite languishing in 9th place in Serie A, Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio have proven themselves a tough opponent — which probably says more about Bayern right now than Lazio.

Thomas Tuchel has it all to do. He has a fine squad — how many coaches can boast an attack consisting of Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller, and Leroy Sané? You’d expect the team to overturn a 1-0 deficit, or at least get a shot on target. Then again, the first leg proved that nothing can be taken for granted this year. Let’s see how it goes.

It’s Bayern time.
