MSI 2024 patch: Which LoL patch is the tournament on?

One champion might be 100% picked and banned.

The League of Legends Mid-Season invitational takes place in May each year where the world’s best LoL esports teams compete on the international stage, representing their respective regions.

The tournament kicks off on May 1 in Chengdu, China, and is played on the designated MSI 2024 patch.

This year’s tournament promises to be bigger and better than ever, with 12 teams battling it out for the coveted MSI title and a guaranteed spot at the World Championship.

Held at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Center, MSI 2024 sees Spring split champions from eight regions, together with the runners-up from the LCK, LPL, and LCS. The winner of LEC Winter also joins the fray.

What is the League of Legends MSI 2024 patch that the tournament is played on?

MSI 2024 is played on LoL patch 14.8.

The most significant update in this patch is the mechanical change to Mordekaiser’s ultimate. It has been reverted to what it was before — it cannot be removed using Quicksilver Sash (QSS).

There’s no way out for champions pulled into his realm, which could prove very valuable in pro play.

16 champions were also buffed, including Akali, Draven, Ryze, Thresh, Viego, and Yone, so there’s a high chance we’ll see them used during the tournament.

In addition, adjustments to Voidgrubs and Baron were made. Baron in particular deals slightly more damage to champions.
