Chance McMillian on Texas Tech basketball's closing defense in final minutes

The 19th-ranked Texas Tech basketball team picked up a monumental upset win over No. 6 Houston 82-81 in overtime on Saturday.

The Red Raiders (17-4, 8-2) ran their winning streak to six and ended Houston's 33-game home winning streak and 18-game Big 12 Conference winning streak while playing without leading scorer JT Toppin and head coach Grant McCasland since the 16:10 mark of the first half.

7:42 p.m.: Kerwin Walton misses the 3-pointer and the game is tied 80-80 with 33.8 seconds left. Houston ball out of the timeout.

7:33 p.m.: Darrion Williams fouls out with 4:09 left in overtime.

7:30 p.m.: Williams and Federiko combine to block J'Wan Roberts' attempted game-winner. Texas Tech and Houston headed to overtime tied 72-72.

7:26 p.m.: Darrion Williams hits his first 3 of the game to tie things 72-72 with 26.3 seconds left. Houston ball.

7:11 p.m.: Houston's taken a 66-60 lead with 3:31 left. Cougars on a 16-4 scoring run.

6:29 p.m.: Federiko Federiko and Darrion Williams both up to 3 fouls. Texas Tech leads 46-40 with 15:51 left.

Halftime: Christian Anderson hits a 3-pointer in the waning seconds to give Texas Tech a 41-37 lead over Houston at the break.

5:51 p.m.: Eemeli Yalaho slams one home to extend Texas Tech's lead to 34-27 with 4:18 left in the half.

5:41 p.m.: Seems like an electric atmosphere in the Fertitta Center. Texas Tech and Houston are tied 27-27 with 7:50 left in the half. Elijah Hawkins is 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

5:25 p.m.: A lot happened there. JT Toppin was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game, which caused head coach Grant McCasland to argue with officials and earn himself an ejection as well. It's currently 19-18 Texas Tech with 12:58 left in the half.

5:11 p.m.: Red Raiders did a nice job of settling down after turning it over on two of their first three possession. Texas Tech up 8-7, 16:10 left in the half.

5 p.m.: Alabama and Georgia are going long, shockingly. Texas Tech and Houston will start on ESPNEWS with a 5:05 p.m. tip time.

4:42 p.m.: Williams returns to Texas Tech's starting lineup along with Elijah Hawkins, Chance McMillian, Kerwin Walton and JT Toppin. Houston will send LJ Cryer, Milos Uzan, Emanuel Sharp, Joseph Tugler and J'Wan Roberts to the floor first.

4:34 p.m.: Darrion Williams is not listed on Texas Tech's pregame injury report and will return to the floor after missing Wednesday's win over TCU. Kevin Overton (head) is out for tonight's game.
