Tuberculosis
Differential rates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis transmission associate with host–pathogen sympatry
Epidemiological analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis genomes and public health data show that lineage-specific variation in transmission varies with the degree of host and pathogen geographical coincidence and reveals signals of a biological effect.
This study sheds light on the complex relationship between host and pathogen in the transmission of tuberculosis, highlighting the importance of understanding the geographical distribution of different Mycobacterium tuberculosis lineages for effective public health interventions.
